One of the first thoughts I had when you heard the agents chatter, “what are we doing?” I said there is no way these agents are full-time, professionally trained Secret Service. I imagined all of them getting a call the previous week from the White House, “Hey, if you’re not busy next week, we need you to provide protection for Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.” Agent – “You do know I flunked out of training and was told a five year old could do this better than me.” WH – “Yeah, we know. That’s why you’re perfect for this assignment. Anyway, there will be other agents that flunked out there to help you.” Agent – “Ok. I guess I can do it.” WH – “Great. And if anything happens, just duck.”
When you see women secret service agents as well as the head of the secret service being a woman, you instantly get the impression that DEI is more important in hiring than merit.
Pretty decent assessment, but there is a lot more wrong.
The shooter: Conspiracy theorist screaming but lets face it, wrong tool for the job. An ex military type, a trained assassin would not have selected the weapon that was used for that shot. The most likely reason for the miss was pressure under fire; local PD walking up and disrupting. Only speculation but it appears the shot was rushed.
Speaking of local PD, same situation as Uvalde, Texas; local PD not up to the task. Lot of good cops out there, this was not one of them. Shooter should have never been allowed to engage the target.
Not so Secret Service; why was there not at least one agent assigned to every building that was within eye-site and range of the target even tough out of the perimeter?
People observed the shooter scaling the building, why were there reports apparently ignored?
There are still a lot of questions to be answered but probably will not be until Trump is re elected.
